The Broken State of the Internet 01/18/2012

Ooh, that's cool.  *Click* *Share*  Hey everyone look at this!  Most everyone has done this.  You find something neat and you want to show your friends.  It's natural, but more importantly, if SOPA and PIPA get passed, it'll also be illegal.  I don't mean flick a cigarette, get a ticket illegal, I mean steep fines and years in prison illegal!  Not only will you be busted, but you'll get the website that you shared it to taken down for potentially millions of people.

What do these people think they're doing?  I'll tell you.   The big money media players have bought their way into the government and they're passing obscene laws which only support the only industry that hasn't been bludgeoned to death in this economy.  Here's another spin they don't mention...  These laws put an extreme load on the internet service providers.  You'll have everyone who wants to claim foul sending letters to the ISPs WITHOUT DUE PROCESS to have SUSPECTED infringing sites pulled completely down.  I mean really?!?!  So I'm peeved at FOX News so I can send a letter to their ISP that they're using some supposed piece of intellectual property I have rights to and can pull them offline?  Hmm... OK so that example has potential, but that's not my point.  My point is the ISPs will be required to act on each of these complaints.   This puts a load on the already thin-stretched IT departments with no benefit to their respective companies, so their bean counters will just continue to ship more of our jobs overseas!
When are these people going to learn that when all the good jobs are shipped out of the country, there won't be anyone to buy from these companies?

The broken state of college football 12/05/2011

With another year of college football in the books we get to look forward to a round of mixed match-ups that have more to do with the money they can get from the pairing than the teams performance as a whole.  It is absurd that we are still continuing on with this farce.  I mean seriously, LSU and Alabama... AGAIN?!?!  LSU already beat them once this year and they think we need to watch it again?  That is one game I'll be certain to be preoccupied for.  Let's not forget to mention Boise State being pushed out again.  This is simple folks, a team with 2 losses does not outrank a team with 1 loss.  I've come to the conclusion that the folks in charge skipped out on math class just to watch football.  BS on the BCS!
